Design, supply and deliver a turnkey solution which maximised the customers space and would be used to create additional facilities such as offices, a locker room, canteen, toilet and much needed storage space. Building control was required due to the purpose of the mezzanine, which the customer wanted a supplier to manage.
Working with the customer on a turnkey project to design, supply and install a 1-hour fire rated mezzanine for office use. The mezzanine specified for office purposes would have partitions installed to create the offices, a locker room area, canteen and toilet on the ground floor. The fire rating was essential to meet building control compliance based on the purpose of both the topside and underside of the mezzanine. Beneath the mezzanine there would be come a store room. The ceiling of the office area required plywood capping above the first floor as a dust cover but also to improve the acoustic and thermal insulation.
There was also a need to fire rate the existing staircase for safe access, which required creating a new opening with a fire rated wall, frame and door onto the mid-landing. Additional services included plumbing, flooring and electrics.
The final mezzanine and associated facilities were certified by building control and relevant load notices were supplied and installed. Load notices legally have to be displayed around the mezzanine to highlight relevant loading restrictions.
